Lockheed Martin Projects
ORION Minnesota Department of Transportation
Minneapolis, MN
The ORION program is a combination of ITS systems that provides accurate, up-to-the-minute information for travellers and traffic managers. ORION provides MNDOT with a regional integrated communication system linking cities, counties and state transportation agencies and an advanced transit management system that features signal pre-emption to ensure better fleet management. It also includes a computer-aided enhanced-911 dispatch system to assist in managing more than 20,000 cellular phone calls received per month, expanded freeway management tools to better monitor and control traffic, advanced strategies to manage traffic on major arterial roadways and a traveller information system that will provide accurate, up-to-the-minute data to ensure that travellers can make better, more informed decisions.
Houston TranStar
Houston, TX
The Houston TranStar project involved the application of systems engineering and integration services to develop and deploy the ATMS for the greater Houston region. This included integration of multiple new and legacy field-installed systems and protocols supporting over 190 miles of freeway. Equipment installed and integrated included CCTVs, lane control signals, ramp meters and changeable message signs. The system has been operational since 1996 making it one of the mature ATMS deployments in the United States.
TransVISION
Fort Worth, TX
The TransVISION project contains all of the design, development, integration, installation and testing services for all control center hardware and software for the TransVISION Transportation Management Center which supports TXDOT and its partner agencies throughout Tarrant county and the greater Fort Worth metropolitan region. This system design is based on Houston TranStar with a view toward supporting the efficient and economical integration of other future ITS projects throughout Texas.
